hey, man...
i did a little cypherin today at work and a piece of cast iron, 24" long, with a temperature change from 60 degrees to 700 degrees, would grow about 3/32". steel and stainless steel have a greater coefficient of expansion than cast iron.
how tight was it before you lit the fire?? -
I'll have to check it when I get home. Seems like it was close to 3/8 maybe 1/2"
