Thanks to the advice I've read on here I bought an Maverick 73 thermometer and I'm anxiously awaiting it's arrival. Any advice on set up or use of this model by experienced owners out there? Hopeing it arrives by Friday to use Sat. or Sunday.
Thanks in advance,
Steve

The directions are not very well written. The little on off switches are fragile. But its a good product. Have patience, and you will really learn to like it.

Only use is for low temp cooks and over the leads with foil on the sections in the EGG. I love mine.

That was COVER the wire leads inside the egg with foil.

Everything I have read says that you should NOT cover the leads with foil. I never cover mine and they work fine. Minimize exposure to direct heat, and they'll be okay. If you need to place some foil along the grid to shield the wire, that's not a problem. I wouldn't cover or wrap the leads, but that's just me.

Actually I just wrap the wires not the end probes. I know you don't need to cover but it definitely keeps the smoke and other grime off of the wires. System works great and have never had a problem.
It was only a suggestion and I have seen the same many times on this site.
