Anyone ever tried guava wood on a cured ham?

Smoking a cured ham tonight to go along with tomorrow's turkey - was thinking about throwing in a few guava chunks - anyone ever tried guava with ham and, if so, what were the results? Don't want this thing to be too smokey 'cause we're having visitors who aren't used to "smoked food."[p]Thanks, and yes I scrolled down and didn't find any threads including "ham" and "guava wood."[p]Cheers,[p]TRex

I haven't tried it on ham, but I've tried it on fish and chicken. I think it would be great on your ham.[p]Ed

TRex,[p]I've used guava on pretty much everything, ham included! I don't know how smoky you want your ham to be, but guava is pretty subtle. I like it, but that doesn't say much! lol
