Elk roast suggestions?

Essex County

We've got a small elk roast, about 2.5 pounds and rolled in a net. I've never cooked elk before. Does it cook like lean beef? Any suggestions on prep would be appreciated.[p]Thanks,[p]Paul

Essex County,
sorry. found this late.[p]it is lean... might go with a high hear roast, garlic, salt, pepper, some herbs rubbed on it.[p]i made a sauce for some venison, black currant. it really was a nice addition. [p]elk is mild, not 'gamey' in the i-hate-gamey-food sense many folks seem to have. i wouldn't marinate it because it might overpower. just needs the basic approach.[p](had to reply, so that this doesn't go in the 'unanswered post' category along with your arm roast question. i tend to kill posts, and you have trouble getting them started. )
