Started 2 Butts on LBGE yesterday ~4pm. Temp in the night got a little hot around 270 meat was at about 172 very early am around 4am. Now egg holding at 230 and meat temps keep dropping now to about 144, is this normal? We have flipped the butts and probed a couple of spots.[p]Any help would be most appreciated..[p]Thanks

bw,[p]I'm thinking your first temp was wrong - possibly probe on bone or in a fat pocket. Unusual for temp to drop nearly 30 degrees, especially post plateau temps.[p]If the temps continue to drop you have a thermometer problem somewhere. H0ld your hand over the top of the daisy and make sure you feel hot exhaust coming out. If so, then the fire is working and the problem is probably the thermo in the meat.[p]

bw,
Like Fidel says you might have a problem with your thermometer, try checking it in a pot on the stove with a pot of boiling water, that will tell right away if its that or not. Good Luck[p]Pork Butt Mike
