Time one can hold a butt on the Egg?

Good afternoon, I just rubbed a 9 lb butt and set it in the fridge till Sat. I plan on cooking this overnight Saturday and need to have it ready to travel around 11:30-12:00 on Sunday. I estimate an 18 hr cook +/-. To be on the safe side I was thinking about starting the cook a couple of hours early and holding it in the Egg at temp till I am ready to go and let it rest in the cooler for the hour drive I have. Anybody see any problems with my logic?

NU2BBQ,
it will hold in a cooler for close to six hours, so whatever is easiest for you. in the morning you can increase the temp or decrease it to speed cooking times as well.either way works
fukahwee maineyou can lead a fish to water but you can not make him drink it -
NU2BBQ,
If you take the butt out of the Egg, wrap in 2 layers of HD aluminum foil, and then wrap in beach blankets and put it in a cooler, it will be good for 6-7 hours. So, I'd do that rather than risk leaving it in the cooker. Good luck![p]TNW

NU2BBQ, Thanks for the advice. I'll start earlier than the 2hr/lb time would be and hold it in a cooler for the duration.
BTW I wrap in foil, place in a small cooler that that is just big enough for the butt and I then place that cooler in a larger cooler, works well for me.

NOName, A butt not your butt!

NU2BBQ,[p]Yep, I would start a little earlier and transfer to your foil+(cooler x 2) instead of letting it stay in the egg.[p]I'm going to do the same thing - what cooler do you have that has a tight butt fit?

NU2BBQ,

Jeeves, It's an old small Coleman Personal 8. I am currently looking for one that's a little bigger, the butt I have this weekend is 9lbs and might not fit completely when it's done. I just might have to persuade it a little though.
