Just a little trick to share.......

A couple of months ago I started doing this. Everyone may already be doing it and I'm just a slow learner.[p]Ever notice when you have to flip 8 burgers, or turn 40 wings, that the fire excellerates (sp)? I started closing the bottom vent about 30 econds before I flip. Works like a champ. I did 30 wings over last weekend that I flipped every 10 minutes for 40 minutes. No flare ups, no change in temp when I put my temperature ring back on.[p]Really works great! Just don't forget to open the bottom vent after you close the top. Doh!!!!!!![p]Done that.[p]Mick

    MickeyT.,[p]Good tip! I do that whenever I'm going to have the lid open for more than a few seconds. Just to be safe, be sure to open the lid first, and then close the draft door. At grilling temperatures, you may be risking a flash back by depriving the fire oxygen before opening the lid.[p]Brant

    MickeyT.,just tried your little trick while grilling chicken pieces direct. It works great. I almost seared myself sometimes turning the pieces before. Thanks for the info.
