We are in the middle of a bad ice storm. Got home, thawed out the egg. Really don't want to have to do it again. But more ice is predicted. No cover. Thought about a small paper lining after it cools down.[p]Mike

Essex County,
Thanks so much. Will try.

So simple, so effective. I get to cook again tomorrow without thawing out an egg.[p]Mike

No matter how bad my day is. I know I can come here for humor. I put ziplock bags on all the doors at the washes. This stuff is bad. [p]Mike

Mike - what about a garbage bag (heavy duty contractor kind)? Use Paul's suggestion of wax paper around the gasket and then slip a garbage bag over the top to keep the ice from building up.[p]I totally pulled that idea out of my you know what, so if it doesn't work I am not to blame!

AlaskanC,
For crazy idea. I think that will work. LOL[p]Mike

Car Wash Mike,
I hear ya, man. I'm down on Table Rock near Branson, and we're still liquid but the temp is just hitting 32, so looks like we'll be seeing the same as you before long. The Folks are at Lake of the Ozarks and looks like they are really getting it. We've got covers on the Eggs (and they will need it with their electric range in the kitchen), but I'll bet a couple of lawn size plastic bags would be as good, if you have them. Hang in there, gonna be a rough weekend here in Missouri, I fear.

Car Wash Mike,
Down here in S[ringfield and I just looked out at my BGE "mEGGan" and she is nicely covered with ice on her tarp!!! Electricity flickered earlier and the kids suggested we bring "mEGGan" in so we can keep the house warm! LOL[p]Let's ALL RAISE the BAR - B - Q!

Hey Basscat,[p] How was the fishing on Table Rock this year? I tried to talk a few buddies into heading up there for a week of fishing but couldn't convince them, looks like a great area.[p]

Car Wash Mike,[p]Tell me about it, I got 3 inches of rain so far today and it's looking like more for tomorrow morning then switching to ice. I have some folks coming over Sat night to watch the Saints game and was starting a 15lb brisket cook tonight. Had to run out an get a canopy so I could even load the egg up with lump! Man, if it ices over the dog and I will be eating for days on this cook! [p]

Essex County,[p]Beat me to it. I.ve used plastic wrap too and it seems to work quite well.

Car Wash Mike,

Car Wash Mike,[p]I was told by a BGE dealer to place a couple of popsicle sticks between the gaskets to keep them from freezing together. Haven't tried it yet![p]LabRat
