Gasket replacement question

Is there a preferred place to have the seam of the gasket? Front, back, side R/L?[p]I would imagine the dome and the bowl would start on opposite sides, but where?[p]Or does it even matter?[p]

I don't know if there is preferred place but I join them in the back centered on the hinge.[p]The one thing I would recommend is joining the two pieces at a 45 degree angle vs 90 degrees.[p]Toy Man

    egghead2004,
You could probably put the joint anywhere you want... just don't line them up at the same place for the upper and lower. I did mine about 30 degrees apart... say 11 and 1 on a clock. I didn't join it straight either, but went with a 90 degree zig zag and 1/8 overlap...works for me.

  • wrobs and toy man,
Thanks for the idea of a non 90 degree cut, I did the 45, easier than zigzag although that may be better.[p]Bottom line is there was no gasket for about a year and now I can do a pork shoulder low and slow again.[p]Later
