I had the dreaded flashover today. But that wasn't the real issue. When I shut the lid, everything blew out of the bottom vent. That's never happened before. Any suggestions to prevent it?[p]Tom

Tom, had the same thing happen to me yesterday while I was cooking quesadillas. The coals were ALL burning, not just in middle, and de egg, she was some kind of hot. Even with top vent partially open, and after burping her, she blew flames enough to singe the hair on my arm. I put her green cap on her head, left her bottom vent open, and flames started licking out the bottom vent. As I say, this mamma was hot. I waited a few, the flames stopped, and I kept on cooking. No harm done, just a little excitement.

Tom,
Wear long pants.........This has happened to me more than once. In fact, it happened when I was doing a demo cook at the dealer when the egg was coming up to temp.! Fortunately, no one saw it happen <g>.
