I used my BGE for the first time and my chicken seemed to have too much of a charcoal taste. It also looked smokey as well. Any sugestions for a new user. The chicken was tender!

David,
tell us how you cooked it..[p]was the fire going nice and clean?
how long after starting did you put it on?
did you do it indirect or direct? what temps?[p]do you mean 'smokey' taste or 'charcoal' taste? [p]

David, also, what brand of lump charcoal did you use? The biggest cause, like stike says, is trying to cook on a fire that has not been established. It'll take 10-15 minutes for a fire to get established and stop giving off smoke. I have found that leftover lump tends to create a "clean fire" a bit sooner.
