Firing Up An Egg

After hearing many horror stories about people firing their egg up and later coming back outside to see their thermometer pegged I started wearing my watch with the countdown timer. I set it to ring every 4 or 5 minutes so on Sunday mornings when I am in the house watching Terry Bradshaw say something silly and I have forgotten about the Egg my watch reminds me. I read a great tip a day or two ago on here, someone said when you walk away from your Egg after lighting it shut the dampers to the usual setting for whatever temp you are going for.

    that was me. what i forgot to admit was that i STILL come back to find it at a 1000 sometimes when i'm heating up for a sear, because she's wide open.[p]
