Temp problems?

I have been cooking butts on my Large Egg for a couple of years now with no problem at all. However, the last 3 times have been problematic. I put the butts on at approx. 10 p.m. and get the temp steady at around 250 before going to bed at around 1 a.m. I usually get up around 7 a.m. to check on it. Well, the last three times I have tried this, my fire is out when I check on it that morning. Besides buying a guru, what am I doing wrong?
Thanks!!
Thanks!!

What brand of Lump are you using? When you check the temps at 1 and at 7 do you stir the lump? I have had trouble recently with "center burn" with Wicked Good Charcoal. I think that since wicked good is so tuff to light that it burns the center out without keeping the edges lit. Stirring seems to help this problem.
