I tried a bag of this from Fleet Farm this weekend and thought it was pretty good. It didn't look at all like the pictures in the nakedwiz review. lots of inch diameter "sticks" and nice size chunks, very few sparks when lighting with a propane torch.
I did pizzas Sunday and burgers last night and didn't notice any off flavors on either. I've used cowboy and this is a lot better then then that sh!t. -

I was curious what kind of wood it was but unable to find much on the web.
Weird that Western doesn't even have Lump Charcoal on their website.
the only reference I could find is a dead.

It's sparky. Will use it up for KBQ, fire pit starts.

That’s on par with the lazzeroni mesquite lump I can get at cash and carry. 14.40 for 40 pounds But mesquite is a little strong smelling and flavor so I might have to grab a couple bags of this.

I've got a few Mexican brands at the local Supermercado to explore.
This stuff is sparky and poppy like Mesquite. I could feel the pops hitting me, as I hit it with the torch. Wear PPE.BrandonQuad Cities

I usually use a royal oak tumbleweed starter. My walmart always gas them on clearance for a buck a box, so i buy all they have. Used to use a weed burner. Ill try both

I love this stuff and It seems to burn efficiently. I have done a couple low and slow pork butts over it, some high temp steak and pizzas, and all have been a sucess. I can say that I am my own worst critic, and my girlfriend doesn't like things too smoky, and we both like this charcoal. I only paid $7.88/bag so it was worth a try. After liking it, and knowing it was only seasonal, I went back to Wallyworld and bought 3 more bags. If you can find it, I highly recomment you try it. Heck, if you don't like it, at $7.88 there is no major loss for you.

I have bought 12 bags. I dont have any complaints, other than I have way too much charcoal now. I need to stop cooking on the smaller eggs and just fire up the XLs.
