That was mentioned this morning. This topic was brought up due to some controversy of a zoo a bit South of us taking one of their bears to DQ for its 1 year birthday, yesterday I think.

There used to be a TV series I believe the name was Fatal Attractions. It profiled people who raised different animals like the Buffalo and raised the like a pet. Then the thing hits puberty and and the title of the show says it all.
