After being without my egg for 2 weeks (cracked base), I felt like last night we should put it back to use the right way... Cooked up quite a spread with all the family over! Here's the lineup:
- Sautéed asparagus
- Grilled octopus
- Cedar planked cheesy garlic mashed potatoes
- 8 oz filet
- Green salad
- Grilled georgia peaches w/ vanilla ice cream
One of the more diverse meals I've cooked in a while, was great to have the egg fired up again last night!

@CPARKTX - grilled them face down for 4-5 minutes (just to get char/grill marks), then flipped them, drizzled them w/ honey and cinnamon, closed the lid for 2-3 minutes for it to soak in, then served with an ice cream topper
Really great!Nashville, TN

@JacksDad picked up this recipe from Ted Reader - although looks complicated, can do 90% of it ahead of time.. it was the biggest hit of the mealNashville, TN

What's the octopus method?! And what was the texture like? I had something that looks similar in a restaurant in London and the BBQ tentacles were bizarre - soft like butter. Never had anything like it. Really impressive. I also love traditional charred n a little chewy squid too.

That looks excellent my friend!

I've never cedar planked anything, but see it so often on here, will have to try...

@TheToast it was actually one of the easier things I've cooked. Take the raw octopus, boil in a pot of water, bay leaves, and peppercorn for 30-35 minutes. Then take it out, drizzle with olive oil, salt and pepper, and put it over direct heat. Keep an eye on it, because it cooks in no more than 2 minutes on each side. The texture is really interesting, powerful flavor, not fishy at all... In fact, my 4 year old niece tried it and loved it!Nashville, TN
