SRF Black Devastated

I put a SRF Black in the basement fridge a little over three weeks ago to thaw and wet age a little. That's been my normal MO for a while. I went to get it a few minutes ago to cook and the cyro bag must have had a hole in it as blood was on the shelf. I assume it's a goner at this point. A finale for an overall crappy day at work.
I had such high hopes for this little fella. This poor brisket never got to see an egg.

At the very least cook it close to well done and let your dogs have it.

I know peeps that leave meat open in their fridge for 40+ days so I wouldnt let a little leak in the cryo stop me.Which came first the chicken or the egg? I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg.

Also: I always put big bags of meat like that in a metal tray just in case the bag does leak. Saves having to clean up a big mess.“Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away.” ― Philip K. Diçk -
Are you nuts? Wipe up the stuff that dripped out there's no problem at all with the meat. Dry aging and sh!t, beotch, is a big fvcking hole in the package.

Devastated, in this case: tieing the dog leash to the egg nest = throwing away perfectly good SNF black.

That sucks. My food saver crapped out on us a few months ago but my wife failed to notice that the bags weren't as tight as they should be.
I I found a whole shelf in my freezer with freezer burn.

Wait... If the fridge stayed cold the whole time... What's the problem? Should be okay, no?Large BGE -- New Jersey

What could be wrong with the brisket? Did a power failure cause the fridge to get too hot? Was there raw chicken juice where the hole was?

Unless it smelled bad I would eat it.
-
Also I had some SRF fillets leak like that Shane said it happens in the shipping process occasionally once the ice melts some and leaves room for movement
-
Cook it. Its going to be up past 180 degrees, should kill everything off.

Can't recall when I last had a bag break but I do know there were two people involved and there was some concern for awhile...Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. # 38 for the win. Life is too short for light/lite beer! Seems I'm livin in a transitional period.

I rinsed it off last night and washed most of the stank off. It still looked suspect to me. I tend to be overly cautious when it comes to food safety so I tossed it. Before you all chastise me, I've had salmonella before and it's worse than having kidney stones. I'm not looking to complete the Food Borne Illness Grand Slam. I was involved in this fiasco.

Your meat, your money but there was a 99.9999% likelihood that the meat was just fine (especially once it had been cooked/pasteurized for 20 hours-ish).“Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away.” ― Philip K. Diçk -
@HeavyG The docs can load up with enough meds to kill the kidney stone pains. You just had to ride out salmonella with a Cipro IV
-
As a survivor of 12 stones, they're not all created equal. I wouldn't want either and I don't blame you one bit for tossing the meat. Just not worth the risk.Highland, MI
