Sliding D-Rack or any new grates

So I have a question. I used my new sliding D rack for the first time over the weekend, and I forgot to wash it or even do a clean burn on it to get rid of any chemicals it may have had.
I noticed when I brought my pork in, it had an off smell. I didn't put two and two together until today. Could the off smell and flavor of my pork be attributed to me not burning off any chemicals / oils that may have been on my new sliding D rack? The smell and taste actually grossed me out. Maybe it was just a bad piece of meat or I had bad smoke, though I don't believe it was the smoke.
Thanks

Hard to believe the meat was bad and you wouldn't notice up front. Give it a good burn and do the smell test with the exhaust.
