<p />I've been having a relaxing Father's Day...up with Brisket at 7 a.m. ...then mow the yard, clean the back yard...then on with ribs. After the ribs went on, I found that I had a real hot spot in the coals. I was doing direct on a raised grid with extender, 2 grates, etc. Well, I couldn't get to the coals without moving everything off first. After I did, I immediately went to the shop and made me a 22" stainless poker/lump mover. Man, what a difference![p]I know others out there figured this out a long time ago...it just takes some of us a little longer for stuff to sink in. [p]Hope everyone is smokey.[p]Mike

Lawn Ranger, That wiggle stick you made me and Mark works wonders for stuff like that too. Your 22" poker can't clean out the bottom grate. Stick it in a vise and bend the end of it.

Can you tell me what kind of wood you use for he handles? I picked up some rod the other day and am ready to finish my "copy cat" poker....but not sure what to use.

I use a variety of woods...Mesquite, Oak, Texas Mountain Laurel, Pecan and Texas Persimmon.
