Need a quick rain guard
The plan has always been to do the turkey breast outside on the LBGE. It is brining as I type. The dressing is made and ready to bake tomorrow. Now I have the monkey wrench of rain thrown in the mix. The weather guys are talking about heavy rain tomorrow during prime cooking time. I don't have a cover for either the cook or the egg in such situations. Any suggestions?
I am thinking I will try to rig up a rain shield from a disposable pie tin. Somehow get it to hover over the standard daisy wheel top. I have limited tools and capabilities. Advice?

foil. or foil and a coat hanger.
I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

Home Depot or Lowes have some vent caps under $10-12 and they work great. Just get the size a little greater than the outer diameter of the egg.
This came off a gas swimming pool heater several years ago, but you get the idea.

Or, you could do what Leroy did before he built the Coop...

You could also buy a cheap pop up canopy to put over the egg. This would keep the eggs and the egger somewhat dry.Which came first the chicken or the egg? I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg.

Go to a hardware store and get a 6" stove pipe cover.

Here's my options..... Either the rain cap for a stove pipe, or a patio umbrella!

I had the same problem and was thinking of using a clean empty paint can, but I found a 10'X10' canopy at ****'s Sporting Goods for $50. This way I don't get wet.XL, WSM, Coleman Road Trip Gas GrillKansas City, Mo.

Thanks for the additional tip. I had wondered about how wind would play into this. We get plenty of it here in KS!Large (sometimes wish it were an XL) in KS

Grab a stone and place on top for "wind security"!

I would measure and mark each leg before doing the bending inward so that the bonnet will come down uniformly.

Might be a redneck if you use a stick of rebar, umbrella and black electrical tape to finish the cook
