How to get pizza off BIG without a peel

I purchased my egg in the spring and built a table with help from the neighborhood earlier in the spring. I feel like my wife would not approve if I go out and purchase a peel or two before Christmas. I'm planning to get both a wood and Aluminum based upon forum discussion. I want to make a pizza on the egg so bad but am unsure how to get off the stone without burning my fingers off. Any recommendations?
Give a man a beer, he'll drink for the day. Teach a man to brew, he'll be drunk the rest of his life. - Anonymous.

Put it on parchment and use tongs to remove onto a sheet pan. A bit of a pita, but you can get it done. Go for it.

two ordinary spatulas work fine to drag it off.

Getting it off should be easier without a peel than getting it on. Once the pizza is done and you raise the lid, you'll come up with a solution in seconds.

- FWIW.... I bought a really nice wood PP for under $10 at TJ Maxx. love it. I also just purchased a couple of pizza screens at a local restaurant supply store for about $3 each. haven't tried them yet though.

If I may say so, do you approve the purchase of each of your wife's shoes, handbags, etc?
If yes, then never mind and see above for suggestions. If no, then go and get the peels. Tell her that at least you don't do drugs and hookers (assuming you dont).#1 LBGE December 2012 • #2 SBGE February 2013 • #3 Mini May 2013A happy BGE family in Houston, TX. -
I got my metal peel for 27!bucks. Using it is half he fun of making pizza

I used a long fish spatula with good results when using the pizza stone in the oven. That was also thin crust and just transferring to a cutting board. Picked up a nice aluminum peel at a restaurant supply last week for about $12. Don't let the price at some of the fancy cooking stores scare you, doesn't have to be pricey. Ace Mart was the store, they have an online store as well.
