We've (I've) been looking forward to our annual roasting of Big Jim Hatch Chile for months. And now... SMH. Conversation with my bride. Maybe a move is in our future.

The GOP candidates are being asked what they would do about cities / states who don't follow the federal laws (sanctuary cities, weed, etc)

A few of them have vowed to shut down the dissent through pulling funding - Chris Christie specifically singled out local MMJ laws as being something he'd go after.

@blasting I'm conservative and Republican. I'm for legalizing it period. But, now back to Hatch Chile! I need it!!!  We use it on eggs, burritos, tacos of all sorts, burgers, rellonos, nachos, stuffed shrooms, etc.

Vanilla seemed to have a problem with that one...funny I could see it until I refreshed the page.  I tried again.

Anyway...sorry to derail your hatch hunt! Good luck on finding some.

@blasting ^^^^ price point is redonkulous. I was getting them less than a dollar a pound last year.  Trust me I've looked at getting them shipped from relatives from Taos or CO. And we did a few years back. It's nice being able to get it local. I may be able to sweet talk a grocer into ordering it for me. I'll find out tomorrow. But, I'm not gonna hold my breath.

@NPHuskerFL   You've got me interested.  I'd imagine I can get them here, being one state over.  I'll try them out - thanks.

@blasting hickory smoke roasted. As soon as you pull them place them into a basket (I use a large wicker basket) and cover with a towel so they can sweat. Then pull off the skin and de-seed. Then vac save into portions. They're effing awesome!

This is why you have always been one of my forum favorites ;) Good luck finding the Hatches. If I could help I certainly would but I haven't seen any at Rouses.

This won't help you Blake, but HEB / Central Market here just loaded up all of their new hatch products.  Among other things, they have frozen brisket/hatch burgers in a 2 lb box.

With all of the cooler work you do, is there a restaurant owner or manager you know well enough that could place the order with their produce supplier?

@Legume Sadly no. At least none that I'm aware of. :lightbulb: I can think of two accounts that supply virtually every restaurant with produce around these parts. I'll call them tomorrow. I hadn't even thought about them in that aspect. Thanks.

An HVAC guy talking about moving to the mountains in August. I wish I had a dime for every time I've heard that at work  ;)

having green chiles in times of no money is better than money in times of no chiles. my suggestion would be to see if Bueno Foods in Albuquerque sells their frozen chiles in any stores where you presently reside.

LoL. I have no complaints about work or being crazy busy (that doesn't change seasonally with this company believe it or not).  Bring that ****!  We simply miss the Midwest and CO Period. We could find gainful employment there.  Funny thing is if I found a place to buy my wife would do it in a nanosecond. She would have no qualms leaving FL. I'd miss it but, bottom line is I'm happy so long as we're together. Ok I'm done being sappy.

4 August seems a bit early to be roasting chiles, I thought it was more towards the end of August?
My original source here in Utard retired two years ago, but I have three new sources standing by.  Price is meaningless for just one bushel (I live alone).
