If you liked "The Christmas Story" written by Jean Shepherd you'll really love "The Great American Fourth Of July and Other Disasters"

It was produced and aired on PBS the year before "The Christmas Story" movie came out, and as far as I know, was never shown again... which was/is a gross injustice. We taped it at the time, and watched it every 4th until the VCR gave out.  ...BUT someone (to our eternal gratitude) has put it up on YouTube.

It tells the story of an older "Ralph" as he recalls his memory of a particular Fourth of July from his high-school years in Hollman, Indiana. (BTW Anyone that may have traveled I-95 years ago and may remember a fireworks place named "South of the Border" won't wanna miss the opening few minutes).

Do yourself a favor and watch it this 4th of July, it's only an hour long.

I will definitely take a look. I vaguely remember another movie he was in, however I forgot any of the details.

It's not the same kid. Actually the older high school aged Ralphie is played by Matt Dillon!!
