Ozark Oak Trip(and some golf) with pics

Got up at 4:30 on Friday and drove four hours to Memphis. My Dad loves golf and wanted to tag along. We played Mirimichi which is a course that I used to play all the time in dental school when it was called Big Creek. Justin Timberlake bought it a few years ago and put around $16million into it in renovations. Great course and it broke up the trip a bit. No pics of it, sorry.

Five more hours to Harrison, AR and crashed at my buddy's house(he picked up the lump and stored it in his basement for me). The next morning we played at Top of the Rock Golf Course near Branson, MO. Some amazing views on this course...





Back to his house to load the 500lbs of lump and start home. We found it easier to use his golf cart to transport it from the basement around to the front of the house.

On the way home we passed the Yellville, AR (home of Ozark Oak) Chamber of Commerce. The only CoC I noticed on the entire 1000 mile round trip. I had to get a pic. They wouldn't talk to me either @RRP





I had the pleasure of meeting two fellow Middle Tennessee Eggheads on the way home( @JWF @ThrillSeeker ) both great guys. This was probably the best 42 hour trip I have ever been on. Got some lump, played some golf and met some nice Eggers. What more could you ask for?

Great haul & story, but we gotta know - any sign of Tiffany Paxton when you passed through Yellville? Any graffiti painted anywhere about her? See any street brawls in process?

Nice trip. Mirimichi is one of the best kept secrets in the south in my opinion. Timberlake has done a great job with that course. Love those greens...they look black from the fairway.

Great post! Hope to play that course someday.  Bet the golf cart designers never thought to test for hauling lump...

Great score on the lump!  I stopped at the Harps in Fort Gibson, OK on my way home last night and cleared their shelves of the 12 bags of Ozark oak they had in stock.

Haha, nope not that I saw though I'm sure we could have driven around town and found some. Drove right through on our way home and only slowed down to get that pic of the CoC for you 

I did talk a guy in Harrison who used to run the sawmill/lumber yard that supplied OO. He said he had heard they were bought out fwiw.

I can hold my follow through on a practice swing as long as it takes to get a good pic I had already hit my tee shot in the water on that hole.

Okay - what's with Tiffany Paxton?  Is she famous for some reason?

Also, I left seven bags behind at the Harps in Dardanelle and Russellville as I drove through.  They were broken open a bit, and thirty bags was about all that would fit in the back of the Canyon.  Also noticed the price has gone up from 5.29 to 5.98 (although somehow, it was marked as a thirty cent discount).

That's a great deal iyam. I paid 6.44 per bag, it was all my buddy could find in Harrison.

well, it was actually 6.44 per bag after tax. closer to what you paid before tax I guess
