What do you do when a piece of bark that big is in a bag?Burn it?Atlanta, GA - LBGE -

A few smacks with the ash tool will take care of most oversized pieces
-
To your question-never with Rockwood but was regular with WGWW. And as has been noted, you can make smaller lump from the big pieces-not so the reverse!Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. # 38 for the win. Life is too short for light/lite beer! Seems I'm livin in a transitional period.

These were huge. I'll have to busr them up. It was like three pieces of firewood.

This meteorite was in my bag of fogo. If it's really too big they break up real easy. I like giant pieces.

The bigger the better! I am serious. I love the huge pieces. My first bag of RW had some that size. I wanted to frame them. Almost shed a tear when I put it in my firebox.
I hate little pieces. I had a bag of Royal Oak and I swear they figured out how to turn sawdust into charcoal.A bison’s level of aggressiveness, both physical and passive, is legendary. - NPS -
Hey, hey ... just poured out a few that size this morning. Thought to myself ... got to post those on the forum. Now it's too late.
Jonathan must have burned down one of his kilns and we got some of the large beams in the mix.
Rocks? That's how he came up with the name ... a few rocks plus some wood = Rockwood. Rocks are kind of like the prize in the Crackerjack package.

I prefer rocks to plastic. In a bag of Royal Oak I found a weird melted clump of something. I couldn't make it melt with my torch so not sure what it was. Looked almost like melted glass.A bison’s level of aggressiveness, both physical and passive, is legendary. - NPS

I totally agree @Ozzie_Isaac I cant stand the little pieces. Air flow not as good and you lose so much. Rockwood is usually so good at have a bag full of medium size pieces with very little waste. I was surprised to see pieces this big that's why I posted. Those 3 alone would probably nearly fill up my firebox. They are rock hard too. The don't have that 'tingy' sound that the Rockwood usually has.

I have a little hammer used to knock slag off welds that i use if i choose to break up the large pieces. It has a chisel side and a point side.
-
Noticed large chunks myself in last two bags of RW. No problem....use some of the medium ones to frame the bottom to keep air holes open. Thank goodness our local Ace (Reeves in Clayton, Ga.) has started carrying it.
I do warn users, though, that if you're firing up using a Mepp torch, beware of the sparks to the face and/or eyes! Caught one this weekend...lucky! May have to go to wearing safety glasses to fire it up using the torch.

Chunks like that are not uncommon, even in the lump everyone loves to hate.
I wish my Rockwood looked like that. I guess you can blame shipping on that.
I like the bigger chunks myself.
