New poster and new D.O.

My wife gave me a 7 qt Dutch oven for Christmas and now I need ideas for a first cook with it. We do have a ham bone from a Christmas cook. I may also have remnants in the freezer from the last time I cooked St. Lois ribs.

I mean the remaining uncooked portion of the ribs after trimming down to the cut I wanted.

Well, what do you like to cook on the kitchen clock that could be done in a DO? You could mimic that on the egg. Anything you'd normally do with the ingredients you mentioned?

is pretty labor intense but can be simplified and made a lot easier. 

My other favorite DO cook is Blueberry Cobbler.

For me : Dutch Oven (DO) + Ham Bone = Soup.

Here is how I do it:

• Heat DO with some oil and fry onions.
  
• Remove onions
• Add oil and fry carrots, celery, brussel sprouts etc (frying makes them real tasty!)
• Add oninion, ham bone and top up with liquid (water + a little worcestershire sauce) 
  
• I sometime add 'soup mix' (barley etc) from the grocery store

I cook the soup with the lid off and add wood chunks or chips to the fire.

The rib parts make great chilli.

Welcome, great and helpful bunch of Q'rs here.  Gotta agree with @tjcoley and @yzzi on the beef bourguignon.  Here's another good recipe that I use and love it, great for brazing.

Any good recipe chili.............................just make suer it has lots of beans!

Chicken legs and thighs. Just cover the bottom of the pot with some olive oil. Red potatoes cut in half cut side down . Add chucks of carrots, an onion or two quartered.touch of salt and pepper. Rub of choice for the chicken. Place chicken on top skin side up. 425 indirect. Uncovered about 1.5- 2hrs
