Any Experience With Attempting "Pig in a Pit" in the Egg?

Options
Hello Fellow Eggheads!

I was watching Rick Bayless Mexico's One Plate At A Time and he was cooking a whole cut up hog wrapped in banana leafs in a pit and I was wondering if anyone has tried this on the Egg.  I would be using butts instead of whole hog and was thinking, taking the fire ring out, getting a hot 700 degrees for a while and then throw in a roasting pan and close down the egg for a couple of hours.  The other option would be to cook as usual to make pulled pork using the ingredients in this recipe and for go the banana leafs.  Please let me know your thoughts!
