Picked up a double pack at Sams Club for the first time. The weight for both was 16 lbs and I estimate that this one is around 9 lbs.
Injected with Chris Lilly's recipe and applied his rub as well.
Ozark Oak and 4 chunks of post oak.
Started at 12:15 AM grate at 225 , dome is running high at 290 but I have learned not to trust the dome themometer vs the DigiQ.

It's 8:30 AM and the grid is solid at 225. The dome temp is around 250 and the meat temp is 164. Looks like it is in the stall for now. I also found out that my local chain Caputos now has 4.5 LB butts on sale for the same price per lb as Sams. Next time I will try a smaller butt. Will post more pics at 12 hours.

At the 12 hour mark. Internal temp is now 180. Grate temp is at 225. No rush to eat so I am letting it ride.

We are at the lake for the weekend. I packed up everything to smoke a butt on the small while we are here. Got ready to cook it and I forgot the butt. I have everything else just no butt. X(

His fridge was full of eggs, sausage,...Loading up the cooler he put the eggs on the counter and loaded the rest of the cooler. Needless to say he forgot to load the eggs. Hard to do a breakfast tailgate without eggs. He will forever be known as "Eggman". Thanks, I repositioned the meat probe and it is reading 186, 5 degrees higher. I figure one more hour to go. -

Pulled at 203 off after a 16 hour cook. I had to bump the temp gradually to 300 to ramp it up. Resting for 30 minutes prior to serving.

Finished product. My last pork butt was slightly better as I had FTCed it. This one rested on the counter for 30 minutes before pulling. It also took much longer to cook. Perhaps the Sams Club meat did not have as much fat marbling?
