I have been meaning to try a beer can chicken for quite sometime, so here we go. 1 bird smothered with garlic pepper and butter. I am cooking it indirect at about 375. I also had to put on a pork tenderloin just in case the chicken does not turn out well. We shall see how this turns out...

I was watching a Popeye's commercial and they were talking about how popular beer can chicken is and how they have incorporated the flavor into their chicken and then they show a bunch of deep-fried strips of breast meat.  I want to know, does she think we are stupid or what?  Beer can chicken is just a method of roasting a chicken.  How in the EF, are deep fried hunks of breast meat going to be like Roasted chicken that had a beer can stuffed up it's opening?

Best suggestion I've seen is to see if you can do the bird breast down so the dark meat is higher in the dome. This probably works better with a vertical roaster as opposed to a beer can.

You sound pretty experienced on the subject Tony.  Do you spin meat while you're cramming your beer cans?
