Chile roasting rotisserie for large BGE

Has anyone experimented with cobbling together a rotisserie
with a chile roasting basket for a BGE? I have a large and don't want to
damage the porcelain where the rotisserie rod would have to sit. I would
likely build a small rack so the rod would be slightly above the grill. I
am also assuming I would have to leave the lid open while roasting. I
have a fan arrangement to achieve higher heat from the fire if needed.
I have not tried roasting them directly on the BGE grill, so I don't know if
the rotisserie basket idea would even produce a better end-product.
I have only done them one by one with a propane or MAP torch. That works
well but takes too much time!

I have seen a rotisserie accessory on another komado. The thing you would have to make it work with the egg isn't that complicated when you see it.LBGE& SBGE———————————————•———————– Pennsylvania / poconos

I like the idea that you are exploring. Unfortunately I think this is one of those tasks that a rotisserie on a cheap weber kettle would be perfect for.

I put them on the grill at 400* - 450* direct and flip/rotate them a couple times. Sometimes I put them parallel with the grates to get all the surfaces. I'm only doing a few at a time as side (e.g., as a topping for a burger) though. If you have a ton of them, you'll keep busy doing them this way.

I can do about a dozen mild Hatch on my MBGE with a bit of room to turn them. Don't do very many hots as I can no longer tolerate the heat. This is a pic of the few hot ones I did this year. As they roast they become more pliable and stay in position when you turn them.

I usually do them on the large grate or my tao. One of my larges has a rotisserie and think that the size of basket that would fit would hold about the same amount as the grate, just have to keep flipping to get charred. Now if I could only learn to get the pic to light up??

I'll stick to my current method on the BGE only because I don't do a huge bulk (maybe 15#-25#).
Or ya could always build out one of these bad boys ;-)
