First burger on egg with thermapen

Took me two months and buying the pen to get around to first burger on grill. No need in showing the wife's burger as it had to be done. Cooked over jack Daniels chips. Dressed with Benton's bacon, tomatoes. from the garden and onions grilled on egg.
If you haven't tried Bentos bacon, you need to order some, it's special.

Benton's bacon is as good as you can get. Picked up 2 lbs. on a road trip last month in Staunton, Va. and oh my. Am going to try my hand at bacon next week but I'm sure my first try won't match it.

Wow that is one big burger!  We love making Turkey or Chicken stuffed burgers on ours!  Nothing tastes bad in an EGG!!!

I also use JD chips when I cook burgers. They are always fantastic. No comparison to the pre egg burgers that used to be cooked on a gasser and then on a charcoal grill. 

The move from gas to charcoal was good. The move from charcoal to the egg was great!

Did raised direct 500 deg as I was also cooking the bacon and didn't want it to burn. 12oz patties dusted with cowlick, cooked to 145deg.

Love the jack daniels chips, if they get to dry in the bag i'll pour in a little whisky to bring the aroma back.

JD chips are amazing on burgers! That's been a goto for a few weeks now and I'll never go back. Fortunately, I've got 2 whole JD barrels sitting in my garage. I'll take a stick off the barrel and cut it to small pieces to cook with!! It's nice to have distill ing in the family!

That burger looks amazing.  I definitely enjoy the burgers off the egg, not so much smoke but juicy as hell.  Benton's is worth the splurge.
