Or prevention. It's getting such that a few Coors Lights with dinner are slowing me down next morning. Which is like the last rung of drinking before teetotaler. I've just about had to take spirits and craft beer completely off the list. Age is the main factor. My best prevent is a cup of water and some ibuprofen before bed. Even then sometims wake with at least some degree of migraine. Need some options!

Well, "spa-Peggy" is kind of like spaghetti. I'm not sure what Peggy does different, if anything. But it's the one dish she's kind of made her own.

It's always been Yin and Yang with me ever since I was 13 and dumb enough to enjoy the hell out of that first beer.  I'm 42 now.  Let me say that I'm not an alcoholic.  I grew up in a small town of approx 5k people in IL, so I have seen fist hand and know what one is.  I drink when I play golf and on the weekends, which last night I only had one beer.  Back to my point... The "feeling good" of anything you do or experience will have to be leveled out to "normal" by going the opposite direction, feeling bad or sad, or whatever.  Example, I was in Moab, UT "Arches" state park when I was 25, which was one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen.  Guess what.  I had to drive back to IL.  I think it's easier to come to understand and to come to terms with the below philosophy than to fight it and think you can beat the inevitable.  Just my 2 cents!

Mutual consumption of Yin and Yang
Relative levels of Yin Yang are continuously changing. Normally this is a harmonious change, but when Yin or Yang are out of balance they affect each other, and too much of one can eventually weaken (consume) the other.

The DudeThis is a very complicated case, Maude. You know, a lotta ins, lotta outs, lotta what-have-you's. And, uh, lotta strands to keep in my head, man. Lotta strands in old Duder's head. Luckily I'm adhering to a pretty strict, uh, drug regimen to keep my mind, you know, limber.

Turning 40 sucks. I'm now 46 and have noticed much the same. My joints hurt, I had lost almost all my flexibility, I' was run down for days after traveling for work, I felt Like crap after a few drinks, it took me longer to recover from well....everything. I have found the absolute best thing for all of these ills is vigorous daily exercise. I have been doing p90x3 for the past month and have noticed a dramatic turnaround in every area I was complaining about (except for joint pain but I'm addressing that too). The one area that I noticed the quickest turnaround was the foggy feeling after a few drinks or a hangover after a lot of drinks. They simply don't happen anymore. I will also say that you can't get hammered and do p90x3 or any vigorous exercise the next day but Ive had 3-4 glasses of wine or a few cocktails the night before with no issues at all. I have every Sunday off and I have enjoyed Saturday nights to the fullest with zero grogginess or hangovers after. I had 3 strong margaritas at dinner with friends last night and stayed up until 1 watching a movie with a glass of wine. Was up at 8 feeling perfectly fine and ready to work out. I think I must metabolize the alcohol faster and more completely because I feel like I did in my 20's after drinking. This makes me happy.

I have dramatically changed my diet too and I'm sure that has as much to do with it as anything else. I guess if you are worn down and feel like crap before you have a few drinks you are probably going to feel even more so after.

In the mean time, There are also some supplements that can help. This article is funny but has some great science behind it and recommends some great supplements (Including exercise). He's a paleo guy- I am not but the article is good and will explain why you feel that way and how to lessen the symptoms. None of it beats being (or in my case- still getting) in shape though. Not even close. The supplements are a band aid, getting in shape is the cure. I'm still 30 lbs over weight but after 2 weeks of daily exercise I noticed huge differences in the way I felt- including and especially after drinking. After a month, it's even better. I can't ever see going back.

Happy reading. It's worth the read t just to know what is going on in your body when you drink.

Drink plenty of water after, and take a Gastrolyte sachet after a few hours of drinking.

Drink a big glass of coconut water before bed and another in the morning. There are a TON of electrolytes in coconut water. 4 times the potassium of a banana for instance.  It comes down to hydration and electrolyte balance.

During the day, if you are already drinking coffee and coke all day, adding a few beers is the final icing on the cake to completely drain you. If you aren't already, down more water.

Coconut water is by far the best, but Gatorade, a 5-hour energy and Excedrain Migraine can work too.

Only cure for a hang over is to hang on. Was drinking whisky last night and woke up and cracked open an ice cold PBR and now getting my chores done. Always a big glass of water before bed and even a glass between every couple drinks helps. But more alcohol always helps.

Don't drink is the final option!
I'll second that. I drank my whole adult life till about 3 years ago when a false medical diagnosis caused me to quit cold turkey. Three years later the same medical condition re-occurred. Definitely not caused by alcohol this time. This time I got a doctor that was actually interested in finding the real cause instead of going with the easy, but wrong, answer. Now that I can have it again I'm thinking about how much better I've felt the last three years and I think I'll continue my tetotalling lifestyle. The only booze I have now is a sip or two of my wife's beer or margarita when we go out for Mexican food and I don't feel the least bit deprived.

this one is easy....Drink Gatorade (I prefer G2's as not sweet like regular) 32 oz prior to going to bed.  I leave one on the night stand for mid night swallows if need be....Haven't had a hangover in years doing this and they cost from 85 cents to $1 per quart.  If real bad - swig on one on the way to work...I know it works on a day of drinking beer...cheers!!
