Is this normal?

Got my base replaced with all new insides under warranty....so, since I was tired of my underbite, I purchased a new hinge assembly. Followed the instructions step by step....red spacers and 10lbs of torque with my newly purchased torque wrench. Now my top and bottom line up perfectly and passed the dollar bill test. However, look at this picture of my 2 bands and noticed that my bottom band is almost all the way together whereas my top has a 1" space. My old bands were nowhere near this different. Thoughts?

Looks like they're both "bent" like they should be. Check the tension on them occasionally but, I'd say you're fine man.

While we may approach this as rocket science, it is not, but you are likely the recipient of some manufacturing tolerances on both ends of the spectrum.  If you got the right torque and the eggcellent fit then I wouldn't worry about it.  Remember on the first few cycles to check the torque as things will expand/contract. If you torqued them they're good. Is it a quality torque wrench?

Sorry to be a wet blanket, but with all the crazing shown on your dome then a GOOD dealer would have replaced that piece as well. Trouble is "pieces and parts" made at different times out of different molds and different drying conditions and different handling personnel during the "wet stage aka the green stage" can mean apples and oranges! Overbite/underbite etc is a common problem...

Crazing? Mine looks the same, wipes clean though. But I've been wondering if it was a future issue.

Edit: been researching the "crazing". Undoubtably it's normal so long as it doesn't progress to chips or chunks. :)

crazing is a common problem with fired ceramics whereas the fired glass glaze on the outer surface has cracked. Depending on where you live then the humidity or simply the "wetness" and the possible freezing conditions mean different things to different people. I assume there in Aiken, SC you don't have a freezing problem to further pop off the fired glaze. Guess I better shut my mouth before I get banned, huh? LOL

I'm not worried about the crazing like I was about the crack in my base that prompted my return. Seems superficial but if it does cause problems, I will go the warranty claim route again. I do have a 2 shaded Egg now as the top is a darker green than the new base. @Jeremiah‌ - I'm not sure of the quality of the wrench and I didn't test it @ 10 lbs either. It's a Tecton I got off Amazon for $30. Figured it was close enough given the amount of pressure I applied to hit the 10lb click and the fact the bolt started to bend a bit. I'll chalk it up to tolerance and move forward. I will check all the bolts several times on the maiden voyage.
