BGE Seen On Tv Shows

I of course have seen a BGE on Bobby Flay's show on the Food Network, and I know there is a thread here where an Egg was on BBQ Pitmasters, but I am talking about just seeing an Egg on a regular non cooking show.

The other night I was watching the show Resurrection on ABC, and it showed what I am sure was a BGE in someones backyard. The egg was covered, but I am certain that it was a large BGE in a nest the way it looked. I guess it could have been another brand of ceramic cooker, but I don't think it was. The cover was green, and it showed it pretty close so in my mind it was a BGE.

The show takes place in MO, but then I realized that it is filmed in the Atlanta area so that had me further convinced that it was indeed a BGE. I thought it was pretty cool seeing it. I kind of felt like I was seeing someone I knew on tv or something!

What other shows have you guys seen eggs on?

Funny you should comment on seeing BGE's on tv. For the life of me, I can't think of the commercial (Thou I know it's a national commercial) I saw an egg in the backround of an insurance commercial. I thought that was pretty cool!

I see them all the time on HGTV whether it is House Hunters or one of the "Best Backyard Pissing Contest" shows.

I forgot that I have seen some on House Hunters before.

I've pissed in my backyard. It burned the grass and I lost the contest.

I saw one on an episode of Tanked. It's on Animal Planet.  They build fish tanks - yes, exciting. They were making a tank for some football player (shows what I know about football) that you could see from his deck and there was a built in Large.

  • If I remember correctly, I saw one on Buying Alaska.  I can only imagine trying to get good lump delivered by float plane. I also saw what looked like one of the bigger Vision kamados, but it  was covered

@gmac I saw Tanked once. They make some really cool tanks.

@sodigthisbigcrux I have also seen Buying Alaska, but not that particular episode. I guess if you live way up there you better hoard all the lump you can get your hands on!

  • The O'Neil Outdoors show used to have a regular segment wherein some game or fish item was cooked on an XL BGE.  It was/is on Fox Sports South I believe.

I forgot about that Tim, but I have seen O'Neil cooking on a Big Green Egg before.

Funny, I was watching HGTV (might have been "Decked Out") and they built the couple a custom outdoor kitchen, the centre piece of which was an XL BGE. Was royally pissed when the couple didn't appear to recognize or appreciate the Egg. They just sort of looked at it and said, "oh look at the grill". Hey, maybe I'm overly sensitive with this stuff - after all, this is coming from the guy that hates when Bobby Flay refers to his XL as the "big green ceramic cooker".

The channel is sponsored by Weber, don't expect free advertising for BGE.

Remember the 1967 movie, "The Graduate" with Dustin Hoffman? It's on TV once in a while. One scene is shot over a big swimming pool and on the far side are people BBQing around what has to be a green Kamado. I mean, it's 1967. My jaw really dropped.

Guess the folks on Buying Alaska would have to make their own lump.  I watched some kind of Mountain Man show (not sure of the exact name) where they made the lump by charing it in a large barrel.  It was pretty interesting.
    Thanks,

    Matthew

I just saw an Egg or knock off on a Round Up  weed killer commercial.  Exposure was brief so I could identify for sure.

I HATE the recent "small text box" for constructing messages!!! It does not show what you have attached or added and is difficult to check text also. Hence the three identical pix in the post above.

I was watching a documentary series on netflix called Chef's Table, really good.  Each episode highlights a chef that has a restaurant ranked in the top 50 worldwide, during the episode with #3 Osteria Francescana in Modena, Italy I swore I saw a small or MM BGE  in their kitchen...
