Removing the fire ring

Hi all. I recently bought a small Egg to take in the motorhome. I like to do some cooks in a cast iron dutch oven. In order to get a decent size DO to fit, I need t remove the fire ring and set my woo ring directly on the bottom part where the lump goes. Do you see any problems with this set up? From the bottom up I would have the "lump holder", the woo ring, a small stone, and then the DO. Thoughts or ideas are appreciated!

Check this recent discussion, most of the comments/issues apply regardless of egg size, hope this helps.canuckland

I think the issue to watch for is when the woo ring sits on the firebox make sure it has clearance to the base. If it is a snug fit when cold, it will be a very tight fit when hot. It might be so tight it could crack the base.If you haven't already, a good idea is to get some cedar shims and drop them in form the top to keep the firebox and fire ring from banging around when you are mobile.Delta B.C. - Whiskey and steak, because no good story ever started with someone having a salad!

Thanks Skiddy. I remove all the innards and carry them separate. Even though its a small, that bugger is still kinds heavy for an old fella. BillLBGE AR SMALL BGE WOO RING
