Buying a BGE south of the border

Good day!

We often go to the US to visit family (3-4 time a year) and I am pondering the idea to buy a small BGE there. I've read that the warranty is not applicable if you buy it there and bring it back across the border. I have 2 qestions:

1- How much a small BGE with nest cost in the US?

2- For those that have done it, when you have warrnty issue; how did you manage it?

If you have warranty issues why not claim them when you come back to the states to visit or register with your family that lives closest to the dealer you purchase from in the states.

Seems like every dealer handles the warranty different. Some will just swap out bad for good parts. Some make you send photos first. Some make you pay shipping. Kind of a crap shoot. Good question to ask your dealer BEFORE you purchase from them.
