Rib Rub/Sauce Combo ?

What rubs/sauces have you found to be complimentary when doing ribs and saucing at the end? I did a rack awhile back with rub at the start and then sauced at the end and they turned out way too salty. I contributed it to the salt content of the rub + salt content of the sauce.

Since then I have skipped the sauces entirely or skipped the rub and only sauced.

I'm up for homemade recipes on rubs and sauces as well if anyone has one.
