What will prevent the egg from freezing shut?

I am afraid that with our weather today, my egg will be frozen shut in the morning when I am ready to grill the turkey. I keep a BGE cover on it but it is not under a roof. Last year, I had to light a small fire a few times in the very bottom to be able to get it open. Is there any way to keep it from freezing together? Would wax paper work?
Thanks for the help.

If your worried about it stick a pencil in there to keep a small gap.LBGE& SBGE———————————————•———————– Pennsylvania / poconos

I was afraid that if I put anything with any thickness in there it would mess up the gasket.

Keep in mind I'm a home grown Florida boy who doesn't have to deal with that stuff. But I'm thinking leave the dome open and throw a blanket over it so nothing falls inside it.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

after you cook and are done and the vents closed....wait until the coals are out. You should still be able to lift the lid. Stick a screw driver or a small piece of wood between the dome and the base just so it wont shut all the way and your good to go. Accept that its inevitable and plan a little ahead for it. Go to bed and rest easy that it will freeze shut, then in the morning either light a fire from below (fire starters, oil soaked paper towels, kindling, etc), let it warm up and then you're good to go. If you have electricity available near the , a blow dryer should also work.Other options:1. Wrap a string of xmas lights all around the egg especially the gasket area and plug it in. You have a nice festive egg, and it should stay warm enough to not freeze. People keep plants and trees warm this way during temporary drops in temp in warmer regions.2. Light a small amount of charcoal and keep the egg warm through the night. It shouldn't take much charcoal at all.3. Wheel it in to the garage.4. Wheel it in to the living room/bedroom whichever is closer. Someone brought their eggs in to the living room a few months ago when there were forecasts of high winds in their area.#1 LBGE December 2012 • #2 SBGE February 2013 • #3 Mini May 2013A happy BGE family in Houston, TX.
