I've also got one of these St. Louis charcoal grates. Fantastic upgrade to the egg.

I have grates from Stlcharcoal for my mini and large and it's a huge improvement. Comes up to temp much, much faster. Grate doesn't clog, and seller was very responsive with my order. Made using my Eggs even more fun. Highly recommend!!

The Mediums are fabricated and restocked!  I send out the emails to everyone on the waiting list.  If you didn't get an email--sorry--please email me again.

    Thanks!

They mailed out this morning!  You should all have them by Thursday or Friday (except the Canada one--not sure how long that takes.)

  • Mine is on the way. Awesome fast thank you!

  • That's a cool idea StlCharcoal!

FYI, what you have looks to be #9 304 flattened expanded metal.  The thickness of that flattened stock is .119 with 64% open area.  #9 is made out of 10ga
You might want to look at some of the non flattened materials.  It does have a sharp edge to it BUT it has more structural rigidity to it so you could probably lighten up the thickness a little bit and save some $$.  Just a thought...

  • Cant wait for mine to arrive, last night I was giving my perfectly good lump a stir prior to starting and my factory fire grate slid all over the place.  I have learned that a crooked grate does not allow the egg to fire up properly and once lit it makes it nearly impossible to maintain temp.
So clean out the egg and re-set the grate.  Hoping this new grate holds in place better based on reviews.
  • I just put in my order.  I emailed stlcharcoal and he got back to me almost instantly.  Jonathan was super quick and helpful via email.  Can't wait to get that grate and smoke some food for thanksgiving.  Thanks!
  • StlCharcoal's grate is MUCH better than the original in my opinion, and it doesn't move around as much when stirring the lump. Very satisfied and excellent customer service.
