Another Mother and Child reunion - Chicken and Egg

Weather forecast was for afternoon thunder, so picked up a big Roaster I could do inside if needed.  Got a break in the weather and fired up the Egg.  Thought about Spatching it, but had already had a couple adult beverages (it is a Holiday) and was afraid I'd cut my finger off.  So I decided to just make an old fashioned roasted chicken.  Seasoned with just S/P and Poultry Seasoning.  No smoke, 400 Indirect for about 3 hours.  Overshot the temp and pulled it off at 183 breast IT.  Shows how good the Egg is for this, as it was still one of the juiciest chickens I've done.  
It's not a science, it's an art. And it's flawed.

  • Nice cook TJ! Discretion with the finger saving decision not to spatchcock was key. Nothing ruins a holiday like going to the ER.
