Big Green Egg - EGGhead Forum - The Ultimate Cooking Experience...
We hope you all got to celebrate those tasty food holidays last week, we sure enjoyed them! We are even more excited about the beginning of fall, for so many reasons, but mainly for experiencing the cool, crisp air while being outside cooking up the best recipes the season has to offer. We especially love these Beer Pork Tenderloin and Ground Beef Acorn Squash recipes! It's time to think about getting out to one of the many #EGGfests around the country - see a list here

Needing some advice on thermometer probe

I purchased the grill extender during the group buy and am using a PSWoo on my LBGE.  I bought a small Weber SS grid for the top level, and it fits least horizontally.  The issue I am having is that every time I use the top grid, the temperature probe hits the meat and either pops the thermometer loose, or it penetrates the food.

Any thoughts here?  I have no issue with replacing the stock thermometer with one that is shorter, but I'm not certain how long the probe needs to be to ensure accuracy.  Also, I'm open to any other ideas you folks have.

Thanks, as always.
