Sorta OT: Bees like roast beef

Hot again today at 95F when I got home, but the lawn needed mowing bad.  Got it done, all trimming, blower to clean up everything, and then relaxed on my new back patio with a cold beer and some thinly-sliced roast beef.  A bee started buzzing around, and he/she zero'd in on my roast beef.  I watched it land, it walked around on it a bit, and then looked like he/she started to fly away with it, was grabbing the meat with it's legs and trying to fly off!  
I finger-flicked him/her away:

...and thought nothing more of it.  Grabbed another beer and a couple more slices, and AGAIN that, or another, bee started to steal my beef.  
 
This is odd, I wouldn't think a bee would be interested in roast beef.
