happens to the best of us. Better it cracked before you cooked it than with the pie on it. I lost one that way. Consider a baking steel...it's indestructible - but it cooks the crust faster than the toppings, so you have to cook at lower temps.

Yes the BGE stones are good and thick. The great thing is if you buy it at a dealer it is covered under warenty for three years. My stone was just under a year old when it cracked. I went to a dealer and they replaced it FREE. Now I have a new XL stone and two XL half stones. Not sure what I'm going to use the half stones for but I'll figure something out. So yes I recommend the BGE pizza stone.
