Annual ribfest

So my buddy throws an annual ribfest since 2009. He stopped in tonight to drop off 120 lbs of St. Louis style ribs he didn't have room for. I'm thinking its going to be a good time. Last year I took third which is my worst for the party. Ironically the first year I showed up with a LBGE. FYI-First place cooked ribs in a crockpot. It's a great party though. Mid day last year the brought 3 dump truck loads of sand and there excavator, drove posts and we had some makeshift volleyball courts. Should be fun!

  • @ Chubbs Good one! Last year we didn't cook half the ribs until the following day. He told us $10/ rack for the competition, but didn't tell us we should cook as many as possible for the crowd.
    @ Biggreen yes crockpot. I added that so you new what we are dealing with. It is strictly judged on taste and the judges are usually recent guests that like what they like. Smoke ring, appearance, are out the door. Flavor and tender pretty much wins it. It's really an excuse to do something!
  • FYI- the ribs were .99/lbs. I plan on cooking. Around 24 lbs. o pulled pork this year as well as my ribs. Not really concerned with winning seeing how nobody really knows anything about judging! I will eat very well though!

  • When ribs look and taste like this and lose to a crockpot you know it's all about the judges and not the food. If I used a crockpot as a grilling accessory it would be to empty ashes in from my egg!
