another newbie egg owner!!!

ok, after years of wanting one, today I am the proud new owner of a large green egg. I picked it up from the dealer already assembled and when I get home from work the first smoke will take place. The whole family is excited and needless to say, I am too!

    Oh, also.

Often times as people start to get active with their new Egg's and cooking on one - there are common questions.   I thought it would be helpful if I provided answers to the top 5 common questions new Egg Owners have.  Will save considerable time.   Here goes.

    1. Yes

    2. Yes

    3. Sometimes, depends on the mood of the wife

    4. No

    5. Yeah, I do believe CenTex really did do that.

Just kidding - fire away with questions and answers - that's what this forum is all about.

I am considering a XL or Large.  Will be my first.  Several people gave excellent suggestions.  Just wondering about your decision to go XL.  Number you usually cook for, etc.  Thanks, MT332

  • OK, we enjoyed some chicken on the first cook. I think I threw it on too early but it still turned out great! Not a single bite leftover! 400* for 1 hour - direct heat. Prob try indirect next time I cook this.

    Feel free to critique!

You made a great choice buying the egg prebuilt. I have an XL and it was one of the worst things I've ever had to put together.... and that includes kids toys with 6,000 pieces and only pictures for instructions.
