My BGE came with a small roll of gasket material. Can anyone tell me where it goes? Is it for the ceramic top or the top damper?

Congrats on the XL and welcome to the forum.
You can put it inside the ceramic top or around the neck of the egg itself. I believe it is to help make it more airtight for when you shutdown the egg and/or help the top stay on when you open the egg. I haven’t used the gasket on my XL yet. It shuts down fine and I have not had a problem with either top failing off. I’ll eventually put it around the neck when I get a chance.
