DigiQ dx2 Pit Probe question.

Options
I purchased a used digiq dx2 from this forum and i am using it for the first time today. The photo is of the pit probe. Where does this go? Just lay it on the cooking grate? I was expecting an alligator clip probe that would clip onto the grate.

Maybe use a small piece of foil and secure it to the grate?

It comes with an alligator clip that slips over the probe. You should be able to find one at a hardware store, maybe radio shack. If you don't have time to get one today, just hang the probe through the top vent so it's about the same height as your dome probe.

I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

I should have been more clear. I always clip mine to the dome probe because I am used to cooking by dome temp, not grid temp.

Thanks for the help. Until I get to the hardware store, I have it wedged between two grates, next to the ribs.

That will work, the alligator clip will fall apart after a while anyhow!!  Just have it, at grid level without it touching the actual metal grid or food product.  I foil my probes with two layers of foil, so the foil kind of holds the probe cable and the probe where ever i have it when the dome comes down on top of the gasket.
