oval foil ring

Does anyone have experience with the oval foil ring from CGS? I have the lg adj rig w/oval stone and rack set up. I use it for ribs. I will soon do a brisket. I need a drip "pan". The oval ring is designed to serve that purpose. It's basically a skeleton frame that you line w/foil. The bottom would be pliable-because it's foil. Not sure I'll like it. I usually place small foil balls under my drip pans so air circulates. I wonder how all that plays out with the foil ring. CGS websites says it sits on the oval stone. Any thoughts/experience/recommendations??

Also-I do not want a store-bought foil pan-they are usually too big or too small.

I use it every rib and brisket cook, no problems and easy clean-up.

  • I love mine!  You wrap it in foil and the air inside the wrapping negates the need for spacers.  A simple and dare I say elegant piece of equipment!

Do you set it directly on the stone?Any issues with leaking or spills when moving it once done?

  • I cooked a pound of bacon today and I'm glad I opted for a foil pan due to the volume of bacon grease. Any other indirect cook on my large gets the foil ring. I can't say enough good things about it!

I love my foil ring and I use it way more than drip pans since buying it.  Easy to clean up and lets face it, foils cheap.
