Need some Beef ideas for this weekend

Have some friends coming over and wife wants either chicken or beef, I have been doing a lot if chicken lately so want to do a beef dish. I don't want to do a brisket, too much work for this weekend. maybe a tri-tip? Any ideas would be helpful.
FYI, that peppered stout beef we did this last weekend was a huge hit, wife who normally does not like pulled beef at two servings of it. Said that one was a winner!

Go balls to the wall. Chateaubriand or standing rib roast. Especially if they are close friends. Tri-tip works well too, if you can get it.

Yes, like eggcelsior said, rib roast. If you are looking to impress a few, this never fails. And its easy and hard to screw up.

being its march and the guinness is already starting to flow, you could do braised leprechaun
i think this was veal lamb and beef so theres lots to sample. you need a big enameled pot for this one

If you are looking to go for the cheaper route, pulled beef is always good. A big boneless chuck roast is good for that. Just the beef version of a pork butt IMO. Easy to do.
