Big Green Egg - EGGhead Forum - The Ultimate Cooking Experience...
We hope everyone enjoyed their Fourth of July weekend and is excited for more warm weather grilling! This week, we’ll be making these two burgers: Stuffed Portobello Mushroom and Caribbean Chicken, and also eating lots of these Ice Cream Sandwiches in honor of National Ice Cream Month! It's time to think about getting out to one of the many #EGGfests around the country - see a list here

spatched turkey

Will a 14lb. Spatched turkey fit in a medium egg?

  • I had trouble with a 12 pounder. However, split it and see if it will fit. Watch the overhang of the setter as those parts will cook faster. The other option is to chop shop/part it out. I end up with 6 pieces, 2 legs and thighs, 2 breasts and two wings. I put the leg/thighs on and then 10-15 minutes later, the breasts, then 10 later the wings. The legs will finish to 175 or so, the breast to 160 same as the wings. Makes for an easy carve, but presentation is not so good if that's important to you.
